Here you can find some links which might be handy when using New Media in school or for preparation at home. When your students are supposed to work with the Internet for education purposes, it might be clever to tell the students to set up a free email account at yahoo. This is because of the fact, that some of the tools need to be registered to which can than be done with a fake email address.
This is a social bookmarking service which enables you to store your personal bookmarks and tag them. The advantage is, that you have access to your bookmarks from every computer. Furthermore you can share your bookmarks with other people, and search for other people's tags and bookmarks.

Transform any text into a word cloud. Word clouds of a text can be nice alternative to text reading, because they allow a more  creative and free handling.

Titanpad is a synchronous collaborative digital text editing tool, which allows a group of students to work together synchronously on a given task on different computers. The advantage in evaluating such a task lies in a specific function: All entries are marked in a name-specific color. So the teacher is always aware of who has written which part.

Bitstrips offers you the possibility to teach with comics that a hundred percent suit the teaching goal, because you have created them. It is fairly easy to use and is not only fun the students, but as well for the teacher. I've integrated two comics in this E-portfolio which I created. When teaching with New Media, you may want to use pictures to illustrate things. Unfortunately a lot of pictures are copyright  protected and are not allowed to use without the permission of the author. This website offers you a big amount of free images to be use for educational purposes.

This website informs you about the project 'Digitale Schultasche' (digital school bag). It offers you a bunch of various open    
source programs that can be used in school or for preparation at home. The programs which I've tested so far are highly    
pragmatic and can be used efficiently within a short period of time by pupils and teachers.

This tool is really useful to create time lines. All entries in a time line can be tagged with pictures, videos. links or additional information. This is a tool which may be more suitable for students than for teachers. Unfortunately you need to create an account to get started.

This website can be very useful for a teacher, because it seems to have a bit of everything. It offers background information to various topics (violence, bullying, data-protection....), it provides teachers with a lot of teaching material for different topics and you can set up your own virtual classroom with your class. It is constantly updated by a team of teachers and academics. I can definitely recommend this website.

This link may be useful for English teachers who want to teach there students to understand authentic native speaker language. The site offers you recorded files of video chats to various topics. Great to practice.
